On March 18th, 2021, another GECKO Consortium Meeting took place virtually. The meeting brought together professors and administrative staff from Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, France, Italia, Lithuania, Sweden and Spain.

35 participants from all the partner universities were connected to participate to this important meeting whose general objectives were to:

– Monitor progress in conducting the Quality field missions and redacting the Guide deliverable

– Approve the proposal for the Summer school agenda and organization

– Launch the Summer School Committee

A Steering Committee Meeting had previously been held on March 3rd to discuss about the Summer School proposal. Due to the pandemic situation, it was decided that the Summer School will be organized as an online event. The University of the Philippines is the coordinating institution for this activity, and all the partners will be fully involved in its preparation and dissemination. A Summer School Committee has been established for the occasion and will be in regular and frequent contact for the practical organisation of the event.

The Summer School is aimed at testing the students’ability to apply their learnings from the three modules developed within the framework of the GECKO project. During the event, the participants are expected to work together in an international, multi-disciplinary team to identify a problem, conceptualize an innovative solution, and give a pitch on their solution to a panel of jurors.

The official date of the Summer School has been set from June 28th to July 2nd, 2021. Details of its program will be released at a later time.
